Moving and Our First Visitors!

Well, now that we have been in the house for, well, over a month, I figured it was time to recap moving into our house!

On July 11th, we got to close on our house (99 days after they staked the lot...way to keep it under 100!).  Closing, and moving went great!  We were so lucky to have some friends volunteer to watch Miley all day, and tons of guys from church show up to help us move a lot of big stuff (we're talking about 10 guys here!).  I was thrilled to be finally ditching the apartment, and moving into our very own, first house.  To top it all off, my parents decided last minute to come out for a couple of days to help us unpack, and help with some various other things that we needed to do around the house (and I think they wanted to be our very first houseguests!).

We spent most of the night trying to unpack stuff - till about 12:30 am - but then went to bed because Cameron had be back at work the next day since it was a Tuesday.  This made EXTRA happy that my parents were coming, so that I could have some motivation to unpack and get stuff put away.  It's always more fun when someone is doing it with you, right?  :)

Mom and dad got here at about 11:30 on Tuesday, and they jumped right in helping us unpack, sweeping dust and dirt out of our basement, etc.  They were so great...I definitely wasn't expecting them to jump right into it, especially after driving about 15 hours to get here, but they did.  They kept going for the 2 and a half days they were here, too.  Just to give you an idea of everywhere we went while they were here (keep in mind, this was all in two and a half days, and with a three-year-old, and a five-month-old to work around with naps and such...) here is a little list...
  • Target
  • Taco Bell
  • Noodles and Company
  • Wal-Mart
  • Ikea
  • Eddington's
  • Gap
  • Gymboree
  • Pottery Barn
  • Bath and Body Works
  • Bed Bath and Beyond
  • Lowe's
  • Sam's Club
  • And they watched my kids while I had a dentist appointment, that I had forgotten about.  :)
On top of all that running around, we managed to get curtains hung, a shelf put up in the laundry room, stuff moved around in the garage and basement, and then all the nitty gritty unpacking.  I seriously don't know what I would have done without my parents here!  Unfortunately, we were SO busy that I only took TWO picture!  I am bummed!

The two and a half days went way too fast, but they had to get back to Wyoming to get ready for my sister's family, who was coming from Arizona.  We are glad that they took the time to come up here, even though it was so quick, and we would have loved to have them longer!  Now we are just working on them to come up here for Thanksgiving...  ;)

The next few weeks were crazy, as Cameron started doing our landscaping...more on that and pictures to come later!

Wendy, I am so happy for you to be in your new house!!!! It is SOOO exciting to just have ownership of your house! Especially a brand new one! Apartments really really suck, and I never had to have kids in an apartment! You are so patient! It sounds like you have an amazing neighborhood too :) that is so awesome how people are just so friendly there! I love it :) I hope you guys are having a blast!

We are so excited that you guys are finally in your new house! You deserve it after years in an apartment! I'm glad that mom and dad were able to make it up to see the house and help you guys out. I wanted to be your first houseguest, but I guess I can settle for second?!
