Whaaaa....???

Excuse me if I have been/will be missing around blog world...

It is beautiful here....

Say Whaaaa...??? You ask....

I know. I can't believe it either. It has been in the 50's and 60's for a good portion of the month of March. And yesterday and today have been in the 70's.

Whaaaa...??? I know, I know. Crazy.

In fact, I found out from a friend at playgroup today (where we spent a glorious two hours at the park! Hallelujah!) that this is the first March since, oh, sometime in the 1800's, that it hasn't snowed.

Say Whaaaa...??? Seriously. That's what I thought too.

So, don't mind me if Miss Miley and I are outside soaking up some Vitamin D.

Heaven knows we need it!

They are bound to come in handy someday, right? Blackmail, anyone?

Radio Flyer Fun!

Today, on a whim (a major whim for Cameron) we bought Miley a tricycle! We have been letting her play on them in the stores the last few times we have gone, and she has loved them and thrown some major tantrums when we make her leave. So today, we actually let her bring one home...Cameron has been wanting to get her one for a while, and all this being cooped up in the house must have done something to his head, because out of the blue he said we should get her one today (and those of you who know Cameron know that he doesn't very often spend big bucks spur of the moment). :)

We got the classic, red Radio Flyer trike. There were some other Radio Flyer trikes there that were a little smaller and probably would have been better for her at her age right now, but I just love the look of old-fashioned, classic toys, and had to get her this one. It may be a little big now, but in a year we will be grateful she still has room to grow, right? But for now, we are doing the *ghetto* version and Cameron made some makeshift "pedal heighteners". Aren't we classy? We don't even know if they will really work (she was in bed by the time we got them on) but it is worth a try. Even if they are ghetto fabulous. :)

Miley was thrilled, and I guess just thought we were going too slow, so she wanted to help put the thing together. And let me tell you...she was the biggest help ever (I kid, I kid)! :) It was so cute though, seeing her so concentrated on trying to put the screws in. She definitely though she was actually helping.

She was SOOO excited to sit on her new tricycle and she just kept climbing on and off, over and over again. Hopefully she can get some fun out of this in the warmer months (and years!) to come...

...even if she needs to grow about 5 inches first. :)

Pony and Posing

Nothing very exciting...but I actually put Miley's hair into a REAL ponytail today. It was actually a lot harder than I thought it would be, because it kept bumping up somewhere everytime I brushed it somewhere else. I feel like it makes her look so much older, and I can't believe her hair is this long! Oh, and looking at this picture makes me realize I need to clean her ears out. Don't judge me too harshly. :)

After I got the side view of her ponytail, she started posing and smiling for the camera. I think we have hit that stage where we get a goofy face everytime she sees the camera, and I thought some of these were just too funny not to share. :) I have to say, not her best pictures ever, but I still think they are adorable, and can't help but chuckle everytime I see them.

Who Needs an Appendix, Anyway?!

This has been quite the week...

On Monday, Cameron woke up with some bad stomach pain, but wasn't sure what it was, so he decided to go to work and wait it out to see if it would go away. It didn't, so he went to the clinic at General Mills, and the doctor there thought it might be gallstones, but told him it would probably be a good idea to go get it checked out.

He came home from work around 12:30, and was still unsure about what to do, so he called a nurse hotline and his doctor, and asked what they thought he should do. They told him to go get an ultrasound done, so he drove himself to urgent care (yes, drove himself...Miley was down for a nap, and he told me to just stay with her and he would keep me updated...bad wife moment?? Probably...). He ended up being at urgent care and then the ER for about 4 and a half hours, and he got a CT scan that showed he had appendicitis. So he called me up and said he was going to have surgery that evening. I was in the middle of getting Miley some dinner, so I said I would start gathering some stuff to take her to Cameron's brother's house so I could be up there with him. I thought I had at least an hour before they would do his surgery, but he called me 10 minutes later and said they were taking him back. So I got Miley over to Don and Cindy's, and I went over to the hospital to wait.

The surgery went well...they were able to do it laproscopically (meaning, three small cuts instead of one big cut), which means a shorter recovery time, so that is good. I took a couple pictures right when I first saw him...I think he was a little out of it still. :)

Cameron has been doing well since, but I think is going a little stir crazy from being home all week! He can't lift anything over 15 pounds for two weeks, so I have been on Miley duty 24/7, which has been harder than I thought when I am so used to having such a great husband who helps out so much!

Anyway, quite the adventure for our little family...we are glad Cameron is healthy and is recovering well, and hope that we can avoid anything like this again in the near future!

There's A Party In My City!

A Yo Gabba Gabba party that is, and you better believe we were there!

Yo Gabba Gabba is one of Miley's favorite shows, so we knew we couldn't pass up the chance to see them live! We were lucky to get some free tickets from a friend of Cameron's, so we drove on to downtown Minneapolis, and it was totally AWESOME (one of DJ Lance Rock's favorite things to say)!! :)

Miley was hypnotized by the show. She was SO excited when it started and was clapping, dancing along, and shaking her arms with excitement the whole time we were there.

It was so fun to go as a family to take Miley to a special event that was just for her, but I have to admit...I think I may have been more excited to go than she was. I love, as a mom, being able to see my daughter be happy, and laugh and have fun. Plus, the Yo Gabba Gabba songs ARE kind of catchy. :)

I can't wait to be able to do more fun things like this as a family in the future!

Miley was so happy that she got to go to Yo Gabba Gabba that she even posed for a couple pictures that night (and by posed, I mean actually put her arm around Cameron and gave us a cheesy grin). Unfortunately, she decided two was enough and she wouldn't take any with me. Oh well. :)

Looking Forward To...

  • Sunshine, instead of clouds.
  • Days that stay light until 9:00 pm.
  • Memorial Day, since that is the next time Cameron gets a day off from work.
  • Seeing Miley in cute little summer clothes - shorts and dresses and cute little sandals...oh my!
  • Summer road trips to see EVERYONE in both of our families.
  • Blowing bubbles outside, instead of inside.
  • Barbeques.
  • Taking Miley to the OUTDOOR pool.
  • Spring rain showers.
  • Daily walks, and trips to the park where Miley can play for HOURS!
  • Wearing shorts and flip flops.
  • Being able to go somewhere without zipping Miley (and myself) into sweatshirts, and jackets.
  • And last, I am looking forward to actually having something fun and exciting to blog about (now, if I could just figure out what that may be....hmmm...)!

Maybe Blog Stalking DOES Pay Off!

My name is Wendy, and I am a blog stalker (or whatever you want to call it).

Don't pretend you don't do it too. You know you do.

Anyway, now that we have cleared the air on that issue (PHEW) :) I can tell you about one of the more exciting things that has happened to me in the last few weeks (this just goes to show you how boring and routine our lives have been lately).

I don't ever win anything. Ever. No raffles, no drawings, no contests. You get the idea.

But a couple of weeks ago, one of the blogs that I stalk read, was having a giveaway for one of the cutest kids CD's I have ever heard. Miley loves to dance to any and all music, and I thought that this would be a great CD for us to jam out to together, so I put in my entries, and crossed my fingers, but didn't expect that I would win it.

But that is exactly what happened! I won the awesome kid's CD!

So see, maybe sometimes blog-stalking really does pay off. :)

Oh, and if any of you are wondering what the CD is, and perhaps want to get it for your little dancing queen (or king) it is Words That Rhyme With Orange by Ross King (you can order it here).
