He's Back!

Miley and I have been leading the single lady life this past week while Cameron was at a national sales meeting for his division at General Mills, Brands-on-the-Go.

We went to the gym, browsed Target (a couple of times!), played at parks, read books, and other various activities to kill the time while Cam was gone. I enjoyed getting some one-on-one time with my little buggy while the hubs was away, but when nighttime rolled around I definitely missed the adult conversation and the company and found that I was talking to myself a few times. ;)

We got to go pick Cameron up his morning, and it is already nice to have him back! Not to mention he brought home a few items that we didn't have when he left...such as these (courtesy of General Mills!):

  • A Patagonia fleece jacket

  • A backpack/laptop bag

  • A cooler

  • Flip cam

  • A 32 GB iTouch

  • An Amazon Kindle

  • And...a Wii!!

Not bad for a week away, right? :) Besides all these fun new toys, it really is great to have Cameron back! We sure missed him!

Now, I am off to read some instruction manuals. :)

Dressing Up...

I realized that I had never put any pictures up of Miley in her Easter dress this year...

Grammy sent her the CUTEST little dress (thanks, Mom!), and it was beautiful outside so we were able to get some outside shots.

I can't believe how much older she looks than this time last year...

This last Sunday before church we got some more pictures of Miley all dressed up. We are loving this sunshine and look for any excuse we can to be out in it!

I have to admit, I love dressing up my little girl!

Projects

With all of this nice weather lately, I have been hit with the urge to do some spring cleaning. While cleaning and organizing rooms, closets, and drawers I realized that I seriously needed a better system for storing Miley's huge collection of hair bows. They currently reside partially in a bathroom drawer, and partially in her closet. I wanted to be able to put them all in one place, so I made this to hang in her room (and hopefully it will help add a little color!):

I don't think it turned out too bad, although I would probably get a slap on the wrist from Martha Stewart for my not-so-stellar corners.

Now, I just need to work up the motivation to actually clip all those bows on...

Our Contribution to Easter Dinner

*Drooling*

This may not seem like a big deal for some of you, but for me, this is pretty fancy-shmancy...so I document it. :)

*Post Edit: I had some requests for the recipe, and I have to admit I am a little embarrassed to share because it is SOOO easy! But hey, everyone loves an easy dessert, right?

Ingredients:
  • 1 angel food cake, cut into three horizontal layers
  • 1 20 oz can crushed pineapple
  • 1.5 oz box instant vanilla sugar-free, fat-free pudding
  • 1 1/2 cups Cool Whip
  • Strawberries (or any fruit, really...we used strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries)

Directions:

  • Mix together pineapple and dry pudding mix in medium bowl with whisk until well blended. Stir in Cool Whip.
  • Stack cake layers on plate, topping each layer with pudding mixture (I also put fruit in between each layer).
  • Refrigerate 1 hour, and top with berries.

There you go...easy-peasy and oh so yummy! This is a great spring/summer dessert!

Easter Egg Hunt Round 2

As if we didn't get enugh fun in this morning, we got to do a SECOND Easter egg hunt this afternoon...this time with some of Miley's favorite people - her cousins!

It's not even Easter yet and this girl is making out like a bandit. And her parents may or may not be indulging in a few of her little treats themselves. Hey, she won't know right?

Easter Egg Hunt

This morning, we got together with a bunch of our friends for a breakfast and an Easter egg hunt at a nearby park. The weather didn't fully cooperate...it was sunny, but W-I-N-D-Y. That wind made it CoLd. But, we braved through it anyway, and ended up having a great time. There was wonderful company, fabulous food, and fun activities. What more could you ask for??

Miley wasn't too sure about the Easter egg hunt at first...in fact, she didn't want to hold her basket, and instead wanted to hold both my, and our good friend, Cecia's hands. Miley's best buddy, Jack, was diving head first into the action with his dad, Cameron.

Then Miley decided to be a little more independent, and didn't want to hold our hands, but still didn't want to hold her Easter basket...

Then she felt even more brave and decided to do it all by herself (her friend, Jack, thought it was pretty cool to do it by himself too!).

After finding all the eggs, all the kids spent some time playing at the park.

We had such a good time with all of our friends (despite the chilly weather!) and definitely were worn out by the time we went home. Miley promptly snuggled up with Cameron and fell asleep watching a movie (an hour before her normal naptime!).

And now, I think I may follow suit and take a little snooze myself. :)

I Could Get Used To This

The weather has been so great this week, and we have been able to take full advantage of it by spending a lot of time at the park. We love when we can go in the evening when Cameron gets home from work, so after dinner tonight we decided to do just that.

Miley enjoyed running around and going down the slide for a while...

Then decided she wanted to go check out the newly thawed lake!

Then it was back to the swings to finish off the night.

I'll take just a few more of these kinds of evenings, please.
