May Randoms

I haven't had anything too blog-worthy to write about lately. We have just been doing our same old routine...we did baby-sit our niece and nephews this past weekend while their parents went to New York City, but we didn't whip out the camera at any of the fun moments!

There have been some cute pictures that we have taken of Miley in the last couple of weeks, but that I haven't really put into any posts. So this is just going to be a hodge podge of some pictures...can you guys believe May is almost over?!

Oh and the weather here has been HOT and HUMID lately (like, I am talking in the 90's hot, and probably with about 80% humidity!)...makes me wonder what the actual summer is going to be like!

Picture group #1: Miley thought it would be fun to pull out our change jar and play with it...what can I say. The girl likes money (don't worry all...we were sitting with her the whole time, so we made sure she didn't put any in her mouth...our best parenting moment letting her play with it in the first place?? probably not. :))!

Picture group #2: We went to Miley's friend, Jack's, birthday party, and she was loving just going off by herself and exploring. I definitely don't have a clingy girl. She is little Miss Independent.

Picture group #3: Yesterday I was doing some stuff around the house, and went into Miley's room and found her surrounded by books and "reading." It was too cute. I really hope Miley grows to love reading as much as I do!

The Peanut Butter To My Jelly

Cameron is the peanut butter to my jelly. And today is our third anniversary! I love Cameron more and more everyday, and am so lucky to have him by my side. We definitely are different in a lot of ways, but you know what they say - opposites attract! I happen to think that we are pretty perfect for each other. ;)

Us in our younger days...

The day we took the plunge...

And now.

I love you Cameron! Thanks for being my best friend, and my other half!

Toddler Tuesday...Curious George

Today I braved what is known as Toddler Touesday at the Mall of America for the first time. The weekly theme was Curious George, and Miley loves that show, so I went with my friend Cecia and her little guy Jack (aka Miley's best friend), and we met our other friend Maren, and her kids Caleb and Asher there. It was a day promised with such activites as meeting George, crafts, and storytime.

While the idea was cool, the whole thing was a little chaotic. I thought that all the kids would have a chance to get to meet Curious George, and get the obligatory photo, but they had a line that they closed off at exactly 10:00 am (when the event began!). I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal, and that Miley would probably be freaked out by the huge George anyway, but boy, was I wrong (sorry about the blurry pictures....I only brought my little point and shoot camera...but really, the blurry pictures kind of fit with the chaos of the whole thing).

She was trying so hard to get to him. She was trying to run up to the front, get under the ropes, ANYTHING to get to her favorite monkey. They had activites for the kids to do, that included coloring and cutting out pieces to make a paper bag monkey. Now normally, Miley would have loved this type of thing, but I swear, nothing was going to appease her until she got to give George a hug. Which of course, she didn't, because we weren't in the line. I thought it was kind of sad that they couldn't just leave the line open for kids to get to see George, but I guess there was some kind of reason behind it.

After about 45 minutes of chasing after her, only to pick her up in tears because she again didn't make it fast enough to the front of the line, I had Cecia snap a quick picture of us with George in the background. We then ate the free bananas that they were handing out and bailed. Oh we also bailed due to the fact that some lady came shoving her double stroller through our parked strollers and very rudely asked if our kids could leave so her kids could have their spots at the craft table. Awesome.

We spent a little time shopping, and then stopped for lunch...another thing they offer on Toddler Tuesdays is free kids meals at certain restaurants, so we took full advantage!

It was nice to get out of the house and do something new, but I am not sure I will be going back to Toddler Tuesday for a while. Unless it is something REALLY good. :)

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day this year...

It consisted of :

  • Sleeping in
  • Strawberry crepes and smoothies for breakfast
  • An adorable card with Miley scribbles all over it, and money inside for a massage!
  • A dinner made by my awesome hubby and cool brother-in-law with steaks, mashed potatoes, asparagus, fruit salad, and rolls

But the best part was spending the day with the sweet little buggy who made me a mom. I feel so lucky to be Miley's mom, and feel like she teaches me about all of the important things in life.

I also have to wish my mom a Happy Mother's Day. My mom is truly one of my best friends, and someone that I admire. I only hope that I can be half the mom she is.

Happy Mother's Day to all those other moms out there...you don't know how much I look up to all of you, and admire you for the job that you do and the example you are to me- sisters, mom-in-law, sister-in-laws, friends...the world would be a darker place without all of these wonderful ladies in it!

Countdown(s)

  • 8 days until our 3-year anniversary!
  • 24 days until Cameron starts his half-day Fridays for the summer!
  • 49 days until Miley turns TWO (kinda sad...)!
  • 53 days until I turn 25 (Yikes...gettting old!)!
  • 61 days until the 4th of July!
  • 66 days until we roadtrip it to Laramie, WY to see my family!
  • 71 days until the Polson extended family reunion in Park City, UT!
  • 83 days until the Clark family reunion outside of Durango, CO!

We have spent the last 5 days cooped up inside while Miley got over some kind of nasty bug. Now that I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, and she is getting healthy again, Cameron is coming down with something (probably the same thing).

So, I am trying to focus on the many fun things that we have coming up relatively soon, instead of the serious lack of fun we have had around here lately.

Sigh.

He's Back!

Miley and I have been leading the single lady life this past week while Cameron was at a national sales meeting for his division at General Mills, Brands-on-the-Go.

We went to the gym, browsed Target (a couple of times!), played at parks, read books, and other various activities to kill the time while Cam was gone. I enjoyed getting some one-on-one time with my little buggy while the hubs was away, but when nighttime rolled around I definitely missed the adult conversation and the company and found that I was talking to myself a few times. ;)

We got to go pick Cameron up his morning, and it is already nice to have him back! Not to mention he brought home a few items that we didn't have when he left...such as these (courtesy of General Mills!):

  • A Patagonia fleece jacket

  • A backpack/laptop bag

  • A cooler

  • Flip cam

  • A 32 GB iTouch

  • An Amazon Kindle

  • And...a Wii!!

Not bad for a week away, right? :) Besides all these fun new toys, it really is great to have Cameron back! We sure missed him!

Now, I am off to read some instruction manuals. :)
