Halloween 2011

Halloween night was a total success this year.  The weather was nice (in the 40's around trick-or-treat time, which is actual pretty great this time of year!), and we got to go to a little pre trick-or-treat get together at our neighbor's house to kick off the festivities.  They had pizza and little mummy dogs, cookies, cupcakes, and some other snacks for everyone to munch on.  We tried to get Miley to get some "real" food in her (you know, the pizza) before all of the candy and sugar of the night, but she ate about two bites, and then was just too excited seeing a bunch of her friends all in the same place in their costumes.

The party soon moved to the basement where the kids had a little dance party to some Halloween music...

"This is just crazy, yo..."

Following the dance party there was a little game of "Pass the Spider" (the Halloween version of "Hot Potato").  Miley actually made it down to the last 4 before she was out (although I don't think she truly understood what she was doing the whole time!).

Then we got to enjoy a fashion show of all the costumes.  After seeing some of the older kids come out and strike a pose, Miley came strutting out and did her best modeling pose (and later claimed that she "won!")...

Landon also made his way down the runway, but didn't make it too far before being mauled by all of his adoring fans.

We had time for a quick group picture, and then it was time to head out for trick-or-treating!  Don't worry...no lions were harmed in the taking of these pictures, although it may appear otherwise!

We set off for trick-or-treating.  I took Miley to the first few houses, with Landon in the stroller...

But once Miley started running to meet up with some of her friends, I headed back home and let Cameron take over the trick-or-treating duties.  Landon decided that since he got ripped off and had to go inside, he would try to steal some of our candy...

After only a short time trick-or-treating, Miley fell behind most of her friends due to not being able to keep up with them running, and a few tantrums over wearing her coat.  Fortunately, she met up with her little buddy, Grady, and she seemed pleased as punch to finish making the rounds with him!  :)

She finally made it back home, and took inventory of all her candy, and then she and Landon were off to bed in their spooky pajamas!

And just to show our pumpkins up close...Dracula, a haunted house, and a bat-cat (that was originally just going to be a normal jack-o-lantern!).

We hope everyone had a good Halloween!  We are now all just in the mddle of some nasty sickness, and are looking forward to the rest of sick season the holidays!

I love how "real food" with toddlers is pizza, hot dogs, mac 'n cheese, PB&J, etc. Ha ha! We are trying to figure out what to do with all of Bode's Halloween candy... might do the whole "trade the candy for a toy" thing, but currently, it is working pretty good as bribery to eat "real food" (I know, exactly what you are NOT supposed to do). It really is just way too much and he asks for it all day every day!

You guys are so lucky to live in such a fun neighborhood with so many kids and friends! I bet it makes all of the holidays and special occasions even more fun!

And again, those pumpkins look great! Who did which ones?
