Hospital Stay

The day Landon was born was a little crazy...of course, mostly due to the fact that I had just had a baby, but we also got to pick my mom up at the airport that day!  Well, Cameron did, not me obviously.

I had Landon at 12:35 pm, and we were in our postpartum room by about 2:30.  My mom's flight got in at about 4:00, so Cameron had about an hour to hang out after we moved rooms before he got to go pick up my mom.  I am so glad I had Landon as fast as I did, because we weren't really sure how we were going to get my mom picked up if it had taken any longer, but fortunately, he gave us plenty of time.  I was so excited that my mom got to be there the day that Landon was born, and it was pretty good timing because Don and Cindy were heading out of town for a couple of days to go skiing, so it was nice to have my mom there to watch Miley for us (and Miley thought it was totally AWESOME to have her Grammy there with her for a couple of days!).

Cameron got back with my mom around 5:30...

...then around 6:30 Don and Cindy and their family came down and brought Miley in to meet her baby brother for the first time.  At first, Miley didn't even want to come into the hospital room - she has a major fear of doctors, hospitals, doctors offices, you name it.  But once she realized that she wasn't there to see a doctor, she warmed right up.  She LOVED Landon, and seemed to think the whole thing was pretty neat.

Everyone got their turn to hold our new little man, and then around 7:30 Don and Cindy had to leave to head out of town, and Cameron took my mom and Miley back to our apartment to get Miley settled down for the night.  Since he was going to be gone anyway, I told Cameron to go play his church basketball game at 10:00 that night...church basketball is like, the highlight of Cameron's week, and he also gets a little stir crazy just hanging around the hospital, so I figured it would be good for both of our sanity if he got out for a litte bit!  He made it back around 11:30 that night, and we sent Landon down to hang out with the nurses in the nursery and we got some sleep.

Friday was a very low-key day.  We FINALLY got Landon his first bath...

We had some beautiful flowers delivered from Cameron's work...

We had the normal hustle and bustle of people coming in and out of our room (nurses, doctors, lactation consultants, photographer, meal delivery, birth certificate, etc.).  My mom and Miley also came down to visit us again.  When I heard Miley coming down the hall, I stuck my head out the door, and expected Miley to act somewhat excited to see me.  Instead, she brushed right past me into the room asking for "baby Landon."  Oh well...at least she was excited to see her baby brother, right?  We all got to have lunch together, and then my mom took Miley back home to get her down for a nap.

We spent the rest of the day just kind of resting when we could, and holding Landon without too many distractions (besides all the millions of distractions I listed above!).  Our friends, Alan and Kimberly, brought their kids and came down to visit us that night.  It was so nice of them to come, because by that evening I think Cameron and I both were starting to get a little stir crazy, so it was great to see some familiar faces.  :)  We settled in for the night, and enjoyed one last night of sending Landon to the nursery.  :)

On Saturday morning, I was definitely feeling ready to get back home and see Miley and get to hang out with my mom, although I don't think I am ever ready to leave the nurses behind.  We got all of the discharge forms and were ready to head home at about noon.

Our experience at the hospital was really pretty good.  Our nurses were awesome and were so helpful with anything we needed.

Now, it was just on to the next step...learning how to be a parent of two!

Yay, more pictures (for those of us who don't do facebook)! Look at that strong neck on the little guy... less than a day old and already holding his head up?! What a stud! I love Landon's going home outfit, and his booties (looks like he had a hard time keeping those on)?
Mom was telling me that Miley was scared of the hospital and the doctors. Just bring her to a few more of Landon's appointments where she gets to see HIM getting the shots... she'll forget that it'll be her turn again someday and she'll march right into her next appointment none the wiser. ;)
I can't believe they didn't give Landon his first bath until the next day? They didn't give Cruze his bath for 4-5 hours and I thought that was a long time to wait. And good call on sending Landon to the nursery... take advantage of any sleep you can get while you have the help!
You seem to be handling the parent of two thing like a champ. Hopefully I can meet my nephew in person soon!

Can't tell you how much I love those pictures of your first moments as a family of four in the hospital. You guys really captured some sweet memories there. : ) Landon is so cute Wendy, I mean seriously, he is perfect. That one picture of him on his belly makes his neck look so strong! He's really holding it up well for being 1 day old! Guess he's gonna be a big strong football player like his daddy ; )
