Toddler Tuesday...Curious George

Today I braved what is known as Toddler Touesday at the Mall of America for the first time. The weekly theme was Curious George, and Miley loves that show, so I went with my friend Cecia and her little guy Jack (aka Miley's best friend), and we met our other friend Maren, and her kids Caleb and Asher there. It was a day promised with such activites as meeting George, crafts, and storytime.

While the idea was cool, the whole thing was a little chaotic. I thought that all the kids would have a chance to get to meet Curious George, and get the obligatory photo, but they had a line that they closed off at exactly 10:00 am (when the event began!). I thought it wouldn't be that big of a deal, and that Miley would probably be freaked out by the huge George anyway, but boy, was I wrong (sorry about the blurry pictures....I only brought my little point and shoot camera...but really, the blurry pictures kind of fit with the chaos of the whole thing).

She was trying so hard to get to him. She was trying to run up to the front, get under the ropes, ANYTHING to get to her favorite monkey. They had activites for the kids to do, that included coloring and cutting out pieces to make a paper bag monkey. Now normally, Miley would have loved this type of thing, but I swear, nothing was going to appease her until she got to give George a hug. Which of course, she didn't, because we weren't in the line. I thought it was kind of sad that they couldn't just leave the line open for kids to get to see George, but I guess there was some kind of reason behind it.

After about 45 minutes of chasing after her, only to pick her up in tears because she again didn't make it fast enough to the front of the line, I had Cecia snap a quick picture of us with George in the background. We then ate the free bananas that they were handing out and bailed. Oh we also bailed due to the fact that some lady came shoving her double stroller through our parked strollers and very rudely asked if our kids could leave so her kids could have their spots at the craft table. Awesome.

We spent a little time shopping, and then stopped for lunch...another thing they offer on Toddler Tuesdays is free kids meals at certain restaurants, so we took full advantage!

It was nice to get out of the house and do something new, but I am not sure I will be going back to Toddler Tuesday for a while. Unless it is something REALLY good. :)

Sounds like you need to get there a little bit earlier next time. Poor Miley! At least she doesn't look to upset in the picture.
